A Celiac's Guide to Gluten Free Dining Paris: Restaurants near Notre Dame Cathedral, Île de la Cité and Musée du Cluny

Administrator

On such a quick weekend trip to Paris we chose to eat close to the attractions we were visiting. Here are the two options within 6 minutes of Notre Dame Cathedral our family of 2 celiac travelers and one also with Type 1 diabetes, as well as a gluten eater.

We made a reservation for dinner on our first night in Paris. When we arrived it had the Parisian Bistro feel we were looking for even though it refers to itself as a diner on the website. We arrived and were seating quickly inside, as it was a cold evening in January. The outside seating overlooking the Cluny Musuem garden would be lovely in the summer. It was cozy and had both locals and tourist enjoying their meals. The menu was very well marked with the gluten free options. When speaking to the waiter he was knowledgeable and reassuring about how the food was prepared and had a full understanding of cross contamination.

Chicken Parmigiana

The chicken parmigiana we all ordered was well prepared and flavorful. The coating was crispy and the red sauce was sweet. The chips served with it were very tasty. We also had a Tarte au citron meringuée but forgot to take a photo of it. The pastry was flakey and the taste was good. This restaurant got such raves from our daughter that she asked to come back another night. Both celiac diner had a wonderful meal with no side effects.

Reservations available on The Fork

We stopped here for lunch after our visit to Notre Dame Cathedral. We were quickly seated in a back room and given menus. We explained to our server that two of us had celiac and could not eat gluten. She understood immediately and offered that all of the crêpes could be made with the buckwheat batter. We enjoyed both savory and sweet crêpes.

All the crêpes were tasty and with so many options I am sure everyone can find one to their liking. They were very flexible to change toppings for us. Both celiacs in our party enjoyed the meal and had no side effects. This is a great location to grab a quick to go bite as well. There were many people who choose to get their crepe to go.

Overall two fantastic gluten free dining experiences and we would happily return next time we are in this area of Paris.
